Wow.... Let me start this off by saying I love Bookworms With Ink. I love tattoos. I love literature. Together it just makes my day better. Except today. A girl (who turns 25 with me tomorrow!) got a HP tattoo and posted it. She is tall and thin, but not too thin. However, someone told her to eat something and then said she looked like a holocaust survivor. The OP knee-jerk reacted by calling that person fat (and her defense was that a thin person would never say that). This turned into over 400 comments of bitching.... and then someone created their own post about it.

RIDICULOUS!!!

Should she have called that person fat? Probably not. HOWEVER, I think that it was an interesting argument. IF she were overweight and someone told her to stop eating, people would throw a fit. But somehow it's more acceptable to make fun of being "too" thin (many people said this exact point).

I don't think we should all be size 0's 2's 4's or even 6's, but while reading the post it got me thinking about the new bachelor show on ABC (or NBC) with "real" women. It's not ok that the average size woman in the US is above a size 16. I love the idea of loving your body whatever size you are and understand that everyone has a different build, but are we going too far and raising kids to think it's ok to be overweight? I'm not saying all thin people are healthy (far from it), but overall they are less prone to heart disease, diabetes, and breathing problems (to name a few). When are we going to start glamorizing mid-size healthy?

How do they plan on enforcing this? I use my iPhone to listen to music in the car, check for directions, and look up phone numbers. WIll I no longer be able to do this as well? Or will I just get pulled over for having my phone out while I drive? I also think this will cause people to try to text where cops won't see (holding the phone in their lap) and I believe this to be far more dangerous. Aren't there more important things for the state to be worrying about?

The US arrogance was so laughable and yet believable. We attacked an alien spacecraft before we knew if they were violent or not. We captured the alien. When he asked to speak to the UN we said "No, you landed in the US. You're ours". Shockingly this lead to the near destruction of our planet. Tonight Deep Impact came on after the conclusion of the Finer Things club. Since I've become nocturnal I stayed up to watch it. In this movie the US government knows about an extinction level comet heading toward the Earth for A YEAR before they not only tell the general population but they wait a year to tell other countries. We build a ship to save the planet without telling other countries or asking for help. Shocker, the mission fails. Granted they save most of Earth. If I ruined the ending for you, I'm sorry it's over 10 years old and you probably will never see it. I find it humorous that we don't seem to care if we come off arrogant even in our own movies.

BTW in Deep Impact pre-selected scientists, engineers, teachers, artists, soldiers, and officials were saved to restart society. Dork, next time Matt tells you economists are more important than artists just tell him that you would be saved in a mass extinction event and he would not.

I had a brief conversation with a friend recently about Jenny McCarthy's belief that vaccines can lead to autism. Having graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology, I'm well aware that this is incorrect and it is terrifying to think of the consequences of such campaigns. While browsing Slate today I came across an article talking about McCarthy and Oprah's new deal. I found it very informational and recommend taking a look at it if you want to learn more. The others are inspired by chapters of Einstein's Dreams. The first is an illustration for the chapter in which people learn that the higher up you are the slower time passes. Therefore, people build their houses on stilts in order to age slower. However, some people prefer to age a little faster laying in the grass. The clocks are inspired by the chapter in which a person live their entire life in what we consider to be a 24 hour period. Whether you are born at night or during the day influences the type of person you are and what job you take (the night and day clocks have my birth time). If you are born in the winter you spend your entire life on that one snowy day. If you are born in the summer you will die in the same hot season. The season clocks have the birth times of a family member that was born in that season. Winter has my husband's. Spring has my mom's. Summer has my dad's. And fall has my sister's. In last picture you can also see Ronny the Rhino, my cardboard black and sparkly rhino mount.

I made this based off one of my favorite chapters in Einstein's Dreams. In this dream people learned that the higher up you lived the slower you aged. So people began building their houses on stilts. I have an idea for two more (or three) inspired by other chapters in the same book.

I wasn't looking forward to my "interview" at all and to be honest it didn't go great. However, being told I was overqualified was a boost (although I would prefer it to have been a better job).

I had a good talk with Jen (who has been super busy and I miss talking to everyday). I can't believe she's getting married in a couple weeks!

Shane and I talked each other into going to the gym. I ran for the first time in almost 3 months. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow, especially since I didn't do yoga tonight like I said I would.

To top it off, the Finer Things Club has added a new member. Tonight was filled with pizza, the Office, and good conversation.

If only I could talk Luna into cuddling... at least I have the bed to myself :)
